What do you think of when you hear the word modesty?
Whether my clothing covers enough of my body!
Whether I behave as a "shrinking violet" or a wallflower.
But where does this external expression come from?

External Modesty vs. Internal Modesty
External modesty is a reflection of the attitude of the heart (internal modesty).
Without the internal attitude, the external appearance is either a facade or a reflection of man-made rules.
Internal modesty has a real answer to the question: "Why can't I wear that?"
The Impact of Internal Modesty
Cultivating a meek and modest spirit when the children are young will help minimize the arguments over attire and behavior when they are older.
If children are secure in their relationships (with God and family) they will have less desire to draw attention to themselves through external attire and behavior.
