We are grateful that you have found Spirit & Truth helpful!
Much of the teaching I have done has been through conferences for homeschooling parents, teaching Bible studies for women for over twenty years, and just time spent sharing over a cup of coffee.
I agree with you about the difficulty in finding biblical, trustworthy encouragement for women. But God is always faithful to answer our prayers for wisdom and truth.
One suggestion to get you quickly connected is to check out Sally Clarkson at SallyClarkson.com.a Sally has a website, a podcast, a blog, and has written some good books. She is on several social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. She and her husband have been married over 40 years and their grown children are in ministry.
Second, I would suggest reading some of my favorite godly women authors: Jean Fleming (her “A Mother’s Heart”b is my favorite first book on motherhood to share with friends), Martha Pease’s classic “An Excellent Wife”c is my favorite book on being a wife. Heroines of the Christian faith to learn from are Corrie ten Boom, Elisabeth Elliott, Cynthia Heald, and Kay Arthur.
My three favorite books on Christian marriage are:
- “Love & Respect”d by Emerson Eggerichs
- “Sacred Marriage”e by Gary Thomas, revised edition
- “Your Marriage Masterpiece: God's Amazing Design for Your Life Together”f by Al Janssen
These Christian authors are not contemporary “influencers.” They are on my personal list because their lives give or have given evidence of their faithfulness over time. They are classics, in my opinion.
Two ministries that I think offer biblically sound resources that you might find helpful are The Navigators Ministryg and Focus on the Family.h
Please understand that people and organizations can change. Always ask the Lord Jesus to give you wisdom and discernment about whether or not what you are hearing or reading aligns with what you see in the Bible.
Besides these resources from others, I would encourage you to take some actions that help you be responsible for your own spiritual growth.
- Attend a Bible-believing church regularly with your husband.
- Find out what the Bible actually says about marriage and motherhood for yourself through personal Bible study.
- Date your husband on a weekly basis.
- Pray for the Lord to bring you a “Titus 2” older woman in your church or community who would be willing to walk your path with you.
“Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you [and your husband] to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus.”
Because He first loved us,
Vicki
